“Why is Massage so Essential?”
-

November 21, 2013 is Great American Smokeout Day. The Great American Smokeout is an initiative sponsored by the American Cancer Society to encourage people to quit smoking. Since the 1970s, every third Thursday of November, smokers across the country give up their cigarettes for one day as they begin to eliminate smoking from their life.
As a licensed massage therapist, my clients’ health is one of my primary concerns on a day-to-day basis. That is why I am always on the lookout to inform you of national health holidays that can help create awareness in our local community.
For over 20 years USA WEEKEND Magazine and Points of Light have sponsored this in hopes to make it the largest national day of community service. Millions of Americans nationwide participate everywhere, united in their mission to improve the lives of others. The goal is to inspire good deeds throughout the year.
It was 17 years ago that the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) created National Massage Therapy Awareness Week. The AMTA is the largest non-profit, serving massage therapists, massage students, and massage schools with more than 56,000 members. Next to the National Institutes of Health, the AMTA is one of, if not the, best resource about massage therapy for licensed massage therapists and clients alike. They strive promote massage to the public and the health care community.
